A grant proposal is a meticulously prepared document designed to secure funding from various sources, such as government agencies, private foundations, and corporations. These proposals are crucial for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that rely on grants to fund their operations and projects. The process of writing a grant proposal involves a deep understanding of donor requirements and a strategic alignment with their priorities.

Types of Grant Proposals:

  1. Solicited Project Proposals: These are created in response to specific Requests for Proposals (RFPs) issued by entities such as government bodies, private and international grant-making organizations. Solicited proposals must adhere strictly to the stipulated guidelines provided by the potential donors.

  2. Unsolicited Project Proposals: These are submitted to potential funders without a direct invitation or an RFP. This type involves identifying suitable donors under mandates like Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) or other philanthropic priorities. These proposals are generally more flexible but must align closely with the general interests and goals of the funding organization.

Concept Note: A concept note is a brief outline of a project or idea, presented to potential funders to gauge their interest before submitting a full grant proposal. It succinctly describes the project’s objectives, expected impacts, and funding requirements. Concept notes serve as a preliminary step in the funding process, providing a snapshot that helps donors decide whether to request a detailed proposal.

Donor mapping is a strategic process used by non-profits, NGOs, and other organizations to identify and engage potential funding sources. It involves researching and analyzing various donors—such as foundations, government agencies, corporations, and private individuals—to understand their funding interests, priorities, and patterns. The goal of donor mapping is to match an organization's projects and initiatives with the most appropriate donors, thereby increasing the likelihood of securing funding.

This process includes compiling detailed profiles of potential donors, assessing their compatibility with the organization’s mission and projects, and understanding their grant-making history and processes. Effective donor mapping helps organizations prioritize their fundraising efforts, tailor their communication strategies, and build meaningful relationships with donors that are aligned with their goals and values.

What we provide

  • Identifying and detailing potential funding organizations that invests in the thematic area of the proposed project.

  • Providing a database with the names of funding agencies, website addresses, and concerned persons for proposal submission, their email IDs, and mobile numbers.

  • The number of funding agencies listed in the donor database will depend on the scope of the proposed project and the NGO's FCRA status.
